Marketplace Open Enrollment for 2027 coverage runs Nov 1, 2026 – Jan 15, 2027. Doing nothing is still a decision: if you do nothing by Dec 15, you may be automatically re-enrolled — but not always. Work through this list before Dec 15, 2026.
Before Dec 15, 2026 — for coverage starting Jan 1, 2027
Log in to HealthCare.gov (or your state Marketplace) and confirm your current plan is still offered for 2027.
Update your expected income for 2027 — not last year's income. Your savings are based on what you expect to earn in 2027.
Update your household: anyone who moved in or out, married, divorced, or had a baby.
Check your state's dates — state-run Marketplaces can differ from the federal dates.
Compare the total cost, not just the monthly price
Monthly premium for 2027: $________
Deductible for 2027: $________
Are your doctors and prescriptions still in network? Yes / No / Check
Estimated total cost (premium + deductible + expected care): $________
If your expected income went up or down and you never updated it, your help could be wrong all year — too little and you overpay every month; too much and you may owe it back when you file your federal taxes.
After you enroll
Pay your first premium — coverage does not start until it is paid.
Enrolled by Dec 15? Coverage starts Jan 1, 2027. Enrolled Dec 16 – Jan 15? Coverage starts Feb 1, 2027.
Save your enrollment confirmation and your new plan documents.
Set a reminder to re-check your income if it changes during 2027.
